[Sgt. Ed Green as a Space Cadet] Space Cadets We Have Known: Sgt. Ed Green [offsite link] - at Con José [offsite link], the 2002 Worldcon in San Jose. Ed Green is chair of Loscon 31 at the end of this month, and was a familiar face at the L.A. in 2006 bid tables. [Heroes]Heroes by Frank Wu [offsite link]. Frank's art has been seen in convention art shows in California, as well as in some fanzines and some professional sales. Winner of the 2004 Fan Artist Hugo award. (Oct. 2004)

[ID Badge Lady]ID Badge Lady by David Milano. David Milano drew this lady for our committee ID badges. He's also drawn art for our flyers and some of our ads. (Aug. 2004)


[One Small Step for Fankind...] One Small Step for Fankind... by Randy Farran. Randy Farran lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with two cartoon dogs (ask anyone who's seen 'em). When he isn't opening doors, using the can opener or otherwise demonstrating his prowess with his opposable thumbs to the other members of the household, he's working on Conestoga [offsite link], the state's largest and longest-running literary science fiction/fantasy convention. [Elizabeth Klein-Lebbink as a Space Cadet] Space Cadets We Have Known: Elizabeth Klein-Lebbink [offsite link] - at TorCon 3 [offsite link], last year's Worldcon in Toronto. Elizabeth is a native Canadian and a long-time L.A. fan, probably best known for working on and running convention art shows. The uniform was made by M.J. Jewell. Photo by Chaz Boston Baden. [Space Catet] Space Catet by Terrie Smith. Born in the mythical land of Cape Cod, Terrie Smith [offsite link] has traveled all around the world. She has been drawing since she could pick up a crayon (graduating to more sophisticated drawing tools in later years). She attended the University of Tennessee, majoring in art. Contrary to rumour, Terrie does not just do "blank" art. She does elves, centaurs, wildlife, and yes, occasionally, "anthropomorphic" art. Her tools vary from an airbrush to a computer tablet. She has done countless illustrations for various fanzines, penciling & inking for several comic companies, and has done all phases of "full frame" animation on computer for education, TV, and theatrical release. [Ol' Faithful] Ol' Faithful by Sue Mason. The Plokta [offsite link] website has this to say about Sue Mason: "Large, busty woman with a thing about small skinny elves. Looks as if she just walked off the stage at a Victorian music hall. Fan-artist with a congenital inability to resist a challenge. Interested in sex, beer, cats, corsetry, Shadowrun and canal-boats, often all at once." (Apr. 2004)

[Star Pirates] Star Pirates by Lawrence Northey. L.A. fan Jerome Scott owns one of these. Lawrence Northey [offsite link] makes these robot sculptures, and you can see many more of them on his website. Photo used with permission of artist. (Mar. 2004)

[Major Tom and the Space Kittens] Major Tom and the Space Kittens by Sue Mason. Sue, Hugo-winning fan artist and past TAFF delegate, has delighted fans on both side of the Atlantic with her art and her effervescent personality, which is usually pegged at 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. She also plays the role of the designated responsible adult in the Plokta Cabal. [offsite link] (Feb. 2004)

[Traveler] Traveler by Selina Phanara. Selina [offsite link] is a fan artist in L.A. who cuts out little pieces of colored paper and creates fanciful (and sometimes whimsical) art thereby. She also works in chalk, paint, and more conventional media. Her art decorates the door to the APA-L room [offsite link] at LASFS. [offsite link] (Jan. 2004)

[Viewpoint] Viewpoint by Sherlock. Sherlock is a quiet, mischievous hat-wearing punster who is also a well-known fan artist in San Antonio TX. (Dec. 2003)
