About Our Hotels

Reservations open 01-Jan-2006

The Anaheim Marriott is located approximately 400 feet from the door to the convention center. The Marriott will be our quiet hotel with both regular sleeping rooms and suites.

The Anaheim Marriott offers four eateries, two pools, two Jacuzzis, a fitness center, a Kinko's, and a barber/beauty shop. Various other amenities include (some at additional charges): in room safe and coffee/tea, high speed internet access, and cribs.

The hotel will not take reservations for suites. All suites must be booked through the convention.

Suite prices begin at $250.00.

All floors are quiet.

Check-in time is 4pm and check-out time is noon.

Current parking rate as of 01-Jan-2006 is $13.00 (no in/out privileges) for self park, $10.00 for registered guests (with in/out privileges) and $20.00 for valet.

The Marriott Cancellation Policy requires that if you do not cancel by 6pm on the day you are scheduled to arrive you will be charged for your first night's stay.

1999 NASFiC ("Conucopia")

Explore the Anaheim Marriott, located in the heart of the exciting Anaheim Resort sizzling with all-new attractions and entertainment. Discover adventure at Disney's newest Disney's California Adventure and Downtown Disney... an outdoor promenade exploding with new restaurants, theatres, and shopping in a tropical setting of majestic palm trees, lush foliage, and vibrant flowers.

The Anaheim Marriott has just completed a total guest room renovation and a $1.5 million renovation of the front drive entrance to the hotel. They also renovated the lobby and main pool in 2001, so everything's spiffy and new. (They got rid of the sunken lobby area, for example.)

1,033 Guest rooms, 36 suites. All guest rooms feature individual climate control, AM/FM radios, remote-control cable TV with free and pay movies, two telephones, sprinklers and smoke detectors. Nonsmoking and accessible rooms available.

Restaurants and Lounges

• Cafe Del Sol and Degrees. Degrees is the lobby bar, Cafe Del Sol is the coffee shop. Cafe Del Sol is open 6am-2pm for breakfast and lunch, and 5pm-9pm for dinner. When Cafe del Sol is closed between mealtimes, you can still order up something to eat at Degrees (the lobby bar). They have a limited menu. In addition to the selection listed on their bar menu, you can also get burgers and fries. Degrees is open from 11am to midnight.
• JW's Steakhouse, unique continental cuisine, dinner only, live harp music.
• Pizza Hut restaurant with pizza, sandwiches, salads and frozen yogurt from lunchtime until 1 a.m. or later or until they run out of ingredients.
• Starbucks/Marketplace - gourmet coffees and stuff from Starbucks, deli sandwiches and the like from Marketplace.
• Pool Bar, cold beverages, burgers, hot dogs and chicken (open as weather permits).

A little-known fact: when Cafe del Sol is closed between mealtimes, you can still order up something to eat at the Lobby Bar. They have a limited menu. In addition to the selection listed on their bar menu, you can also get burgers and fries.

Sleeping Rooms

Each room has individual climate controls, remote-control cable TV with free and pay movies, AM/FM radio, two telephones, voice mail system, and an in-room safe.

Suites

The Anaheim Marriott has several different types of suites including bi-levels and some with fireplaces and balconies. Because there are a limited number of each type of suite, reservations requests must be made through the convention rather than directly with the hotel. The Worldcon Suite Czar, Ben Yalow, is monitoring the suite inventory and any reservations or questions/requests for information should be made through him. Suite prices start at $250 and bedrooms are generally not included.

"What hours will Kinko's be open?"

Fed Ex Kinko's will be open in the Marriott (714-703-2250) Mon-Fri 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM and Sat/Sun 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM; and in the Convention Center (714-765-8820) 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM from Wednesday August 23 through Monday August 28.

"What are the convention rates?

Rates at the Marriott are $99 single/double/triple/quad, plus tax. Suites, in varying sizes and prices, are also available.

"How do I reserve my room?"

For regular rooms, contact the hotel directly. See above for phone number, booking code, and a direct link to their website.

Suites are handled by the convention.

"What about tax? How much are the rooms, really?"

Tax on hotel rooms in Anaheim is 15%, plus two additional surcharges that add up to $1.78 per night.

"How tall is the hotel?"

The Marriott has two guest towers.

• The Palms Tower contains guest floors 2-12, 14-19. It has the low-numbered rooms on each floor, for example rooms 1600-1639. This is the tower above the hotel's main entrance and front desk, and is the left-hand tower in the photo.
• The Oasis Tower (i.e., the one to the west) contains guest floors 2-12, 14-17. It has the high-numbered rooms on each floor. This is the tower above the function space (also known as the "Marriott Hall") and is closer to the Anaheim Convention Center. It's the right-hand tower in the photo.

"Where can I find a cash machine?"

There's an ATM in the lobby.

"Is the hotel barefoot-friendly?"

Sort of. ("Don't ask, don't tell.") They have a pool, after all, and the most common route to get to it from the Palms Tower elevators is through the Lobby Bar. The hotel does not have a specific barefoot policy. If you're running barefoot through the function space, a hotel employee might suggest shoes for your own safety, but the actual call one way or the other would be made by the manager on duty at that time. My suggestion: don't leave dirty footprints and they probably won't hassle you. (See also barefooters.org and a letter from California's Dept. of Health Services .)

All that having been said, be advised that if you ask them then they have to give you an official answer and that answer will probably be "no" because they're afraid that if they give you permission and you hurt yourself, you'll be upset with them.

"Are the stairs available for our use?"

Sort of. The stairs in the Oasis Tower have "two-way doors" (that is, you can get from the floor to the stairs and from the stairs to the floor) except for the first floor, where the door locks behind you as you exit the stairs. (We haven't examined the Palms Tower stairs closely yet.)

"Is there a self-service coin laundry?"

Yes.

"What credit cards do the hotel accept?"

American Express, Carte Blanche, Diners Club, Discover, En Route, JCB, Mastercard, Visa.
