If you want to ride your bicycle all the way to Anaheim, please feel free. (Depending on where you're starting from, you may want to start now.) You'll need mostly the same maps you'd need if you were driving to Anaheim.
If you're planning to check your bicycle as luggage on an airplane or train, we can help you figure out how to get the rest of the way to the hotel from the airport or train station. If the choices seem equivalent to you, take the train. Ironically, if you want to minimize the time you spend bicycling without resorting to the local OCTA bus routes, you should consider traveling by (Greyhound) bus.
OCTA Bikeways Map (low-resolution version shown at right) is available online as a PDF, and you can probably send a LSASE (#10 envelope) to Customer Relations, Orange County Transportation Authority, P.O. Box 14184, Orange, CA 92863-1584 and ask for them to mail you the printed version. The red lines are the paved off-road (i.e., no motor vehicles allowed) trails. The long red line you can see running from the coast all the way to the northeast side of the county is the Santa Ana River Trail.
For Orange County Harbors, Beachs, and Parks Off-Road Trail Information (for example, the Santa Ana River Trail), you can call 714-834-2400.
Train service to Anaheim is available, and they allow bicycles to be brought on board. Once you get to Anaheim, it's just a few miles west on Katella to get to our location. (You'll need to cross Katella to proceed westbound.) When you get to Katella and Harbor Blvd., turn left, and then right on Convention Way. You'll see the Hilton on the right, and Marriott on the left. The gleaming spires dead ahead at the end of the street are the Anaheim Convention Center. MapQuest says it's 2.1 miles from the Anaheim train station to the Hilton.
Or if you're too tired, just go out from the station, cross Katella at the light, and catch the OCTA Route 50 bus westbound down Katella. The local bus service offers bike racks on the front of each bus.
If you're traveling by air, it's a little trickier, but there's a special bike route available. You should probably fly into Orange County or Long Beach Airport. If you fly into Orange County Airport, once you've picked up and unpacked your bicycle at baggage claim, make your way out to the street. The street is MacArthur Blvd, and it's a busy one. Get across the street and head north on MacArthur. MacArthur will take a big curve to the west. When you get to Harbor Blvd., keep going on MacArthur. The road will go up and over the Santa Ana River (and its name will change to "Talbert"), but you want to turn right onto the Santa Ana River Bike Trail. It's a lovely ride northbound, there's a paved path on the east bank of the river all the way from the sea (Huntington Beach) to Westminster Blvd. (I think), where you cross to the west bank of the river up to Katella. At Katella, get off the trail -- or get off at Orangewood and cut through the stadium parking lot -- and proceeed west on Katella, per the train station instructions above. (The MapQuest route is about 13 or 14 miles, but the Santa Ana River Trail route will be longer. I don't have a figure for the actual bicycle trip length at this time.)
If you fly into Long Beach Airport, make your way out of baggage claim and proceed south to Willow Street. Turn left and proceed east on Willow, which will turn into Katella. (Once you cross into Orange County -- when the street changes name and you start seeing OCTA bus stop signs -- if you get tired, you can take the Route 43 bus for a dollar the rest of the way.) When you see the Anaheim Convention Center on your right, turn right and go down the access road/pedestrian path to get to the hotels on Convention Way. MapQuest says it's about 17.7 miles from Long Beach Airport to the Hilton.
The shortest routing for your bike ride, though, is to take a cross-country Greyhound bus to Anaheim. You just go south on Anaheim Blvd., turn right on Katella Ave., left on Harbor Blvd. and right on Convention way. MApQuest says it's about 1.8 miles from the bus station to the Hilton.
If you're hitching a lift on a yacht, ask them to let you off in Huntington Beach. Proceed south on Pacific Coast Highway, and when you get to the Santa Ana River Trail, take it per the instructions above for Orange County Airport.
